Implemented since the start of the reform process, this approach calls for a concerted effort to pursue economic reform, open up to the outside world, and step up economic development on the one hand, and a continued commitment to the Four Cardinal Principles (socialism, the people's democratic dictatorship, leadership by the CPC, and Mao Zedong Thought and Marxism-Leninism) and to the rule of law on the other. It ensures progress in our push for reform and greater openness, and for socialist modernization. No matter how the world we find ourselves in may evolve, this approach will remain relevant.
